Cheap-as-chips National Stadium market

MBK Market

This great little Loy Krathong market next to MBK shopping centre at BTS National Stadium finishes its run today (Sunday 17 November 2013) but, as it re-appears in various forms from time to time, it’s worth taking note.

Accessed just to the side of the entrance to MBK, the market has a very local feel and with that come local prices. Expect dirt cheap clothes, shoes, homewares and more.

Shopping every which way.

Plus a huge selection of criminally good value food – think khao man gai Hainanese chicken rice for 10 baht. It might not be the world’s biggest portion, but for the price it is pretty decent!

Home of the 39 baht moo ka ta.

Home of the 39 baht moo ka ta.

moo ka ta barbecue stand at the back of the market offers a great value set from 39 baht. A jumbo set, enough to leave two people pretty full, costs 150 baht. It’s a low-key affair, sat cross-legged on mats with your self-serve barbecue on the low table in front of you. You’ll be brought your tray of raw meats, vegetables, noodles and an egg to cook on the pan and in the simmering broth – the rest is up to you!

Relaxed alfresco dining.

If you need a rest afterwards, authentic massage is available just alongside in what somewhat resembles a sheep pen.
